Platino Linear Laser Cutting Machine

New for 2026, our Platino Linear laser cutting machine.

After 18 years we have decommissioned our workhorse Platino. Although still cutting well it's CO2 technology was now outdated and inefficient compared to newer models.

Over three days we stripped it down to sell and recycle. The area was prepped for the new installation. We decided to keep our current tower/storage system as it was still working perfectly and in fact the new version really did not have any extra benefits. This left an interesting puzzle to solve on how to bring in the new 12metre long machine.

Due to the position of some pillars, it would have not been possible to bring it in through the main doors. Instead, we knocked down a wall in the side of the building so it could be pushed directly into place. The plan worked seamlessly on the day with half the machine through the main door and the other longer section through the open wall.

This new 8kw fibre is massively more efficient, as it uses 60% less electricity and is four times faster than our old machine.
