Gallery - Porcupine Book Table

For many years Sorb has helped students from Buckinghamshire University College in High Wycombe. We feel this is very important as today's students are tomorrow's artists and business people. We have seen many of the students we have helped later on in their life and we continue networking to produce very useful contacts and orders. The Porcupine book table is an example of a student who has gone on to be successful with their designs. The concept behind this piece is one of negative spaces. The book's negative representations are made permanent in the structure of the unit. The name of the 'Book Porcupine' refers to it's silhouette, the stout legs against the spines of the books sticking out at various angles and degrees. Sorb's skilled welders built up the compartments and facets of the piece as shown in the photograghs below.
